 One day in 1969 four men in Napier, New Zealand, sat down and discussed what could they do for a living that was different to the norm.  From this meeting far-reaching decisions were made.  They physically built Classic Sheepskins Tannery from the ground up.  40 years later they are still involved in this hands-on business employing upwards of 50 staff.  Sheep skin products are sent world-wide from the now internationally respected Classic Sheepskins.  We operate from our original site, which has been hugely expanded.
A unique feature of the business is the personally conducted factory tours explaining how we tan and manufacture lamb skins.

Classic Sheepskins produces luxurious sheep skin rugs from single lambskins through to up to 50 rugs matched and sewn together, plus a selection of high quality designer rugs.  Production has extended to sheepskin slippers, boots, car seat covers, bed underlays, medical accessories and pelts. In more recent times we are catering for the equestrian market with horse numnahs and a range of boots and other saddle accessories.

Being owner-operated we are always interested in your feedback for the “something special” you wish to have made; or ideas for sheepskin items “beyond the square.”
